Here’s another look at what you get inside those crazy goodie bags and at the shows and panels at South by Southwest.

More stuff from South by Southwest 2008, this time, we have a bunch of cute buttons, mostly for Etsy.

Here’s a cool piece of schwag from the South by Southwest music conference. In addition to the standard lanyard and badge, there’s a cool, funky cell phone/digital camera holder.

Here are a couple shots of Elvis schwag from a New York Times article about the Elvis Is Alive Museum, which was recently closed by its owner, Bill Beeny.

Okay, so I’m not sure if this is actually music related at all, but the guy on this clock does look like some kind of Burmese Elvis.

Cornelius does make music that is best listened to with headphones, so why not package a deluxe version of the album with limited edition Cornelius-branded headphones? For the Japanese release, where extravagant packaging is always appreciated, it was a no brainer.

…beer guitars? Neon beer sign, meet guitar. Guitar, meet neon beer sign. An undeniable classic is born!

Mary Ann and Richard Ashcraft have spent 40 years collecting Beatles memorabilia in their Arizona home. Their collection now includes more than 2,000 items estimated to be worth more than $100,000.

Here’s a phenomenal classic bit of music schwag: a full set of ABBA buttons. Not the kind that you pin on your jacket, but the kind you use to button it up. The cheesy possibilities are endless!

Perhaps they should just call it Schwag by Southwest? Check out how any bags they put together this year! Lowly SXSW unpaid volunteers, we salute you! You definitely earned your free wristbands.

So cynical and British, The Kinks have merch like this self-proclaimed Low Budget Ash Tray. Meanwhile, I’m starting the classic merch preservation society. Anyone wanna join?

Perhaps on paper, giving out Palooza Papers was a great idea. Perhaps in a better world, it wouldn’t have pissed off city officials so much the concert was almost canceled. If you have an opinion, comment!

Okay, so here is perhaps the best piece of music merch OF ALL TIME. No kidding, it’s a Kraftwerk calculator. When you press down a special key does it play a little melody? I don’t know, because I’ve never gotten my hands on it, but I would hope so. (via Everybody Loves Free Stuff)

We’re featuring Harry and the Potters again because we wanted to give them props for employing one of the most underrated rock and roll promos of all time, the toothbrush. Sure, most folks are more likely to get a free toothbrush at the dentist than at a rock show, but we can change that if we all work together!

When will rock and roll die? Oh, about never. But this handy tombstone-shaped calendar will help you keep track of all your rockin’ days.

Since I just started this blog, I’m not sure yet where to draw the line on what is truly music merch related. In this case, this lovely Dewey Cox album cover decor was featured in the Knitting Factory, which I think gives it enough rock and roll cred to post here.

Here’s a cool guitar pick necklace promo. Of course, this one isn’t actually band schwag, it’s from the Japanese clothing company Hysteric Glamour, which specializes in pop culture and rock and roll influenced fashions.

With their slick production and fancy Peter Saville album covers, New Order were always a cut above the average band. Why should their merch be any different? Looking for something totally out of the ordinary, this Waiting for the Siren’s Call New Order scarf is definitely it!

Okay, so this is a little bit of a tangent perhaps, but I think an Ernie Ball clock does count as cool music merch. Perfect for the studio, the guitar store or anywhere strings are broken!

Ah, the lowly concert tee. Actually, not so lowly to begin with, but Harry and the Potters definitely take theirs up a notch or two! Start with some great designs and do some quality screenprinting onto some great colors of American Apparel shirts and you’ve definitely got a winning combination!
